My Adventure to Taluntunan Falls
Last February 15, 2025, I joined our Christian Youth Fellowship (CYF) Valentines pictorial at Taluntunan Falls in Manogtong, Ayungon, Negros Oriental. CYF is a youth group in our church, and every February we celebrate a post-Valentines Social with the blessing and grace of God. Before that celebration, we always have a pictorial, and this year we chose Taluntunan Falls as the perfect place.
How to get there?
If you’re coming from Dumaguete, Ayungon, or other nearby towns, you can take a Ceres bus or any public transport bound for Crossing Manogtong. From there, ride a motorcycle going to Cansalanga for only ₱20. After that, the adventure begins with a 5 kilometer walk that usually takes about an hour. The trail is both exciting and challenging since you’ll pass along the side of a mountain and even some cliffs.
But since I’m from Manogtong, I didn’t need to ride anything. I just walked directly to the falls. Along the way, the first spot you’ll encounter is a river with cold, clear water, which you need to cross before finally reaching Taluntunan Falls.
What to bring?
✅ Drinking water to stay hydrated during the long walk
✅ Snacks or food for extra energy since there are no stores near the falls
✅ Jacket or long sleeves for protection from tall grasses
✅ Extra t-shirt if you plan to swim or change after sweating
At the Falls
When we arrived, I was amazed by the beauty of Taluntunan Falls. The water was strong and refreshing, surrounded by trees and fresh mountain air. What made it even better is that there is no entrance fee, so anyone can freely visit.
Since our purpose was the CYF Valentines pictorial, we enjoyed taking photos with the falls as our background.
I also had a solo picture taken, which gave me a nice memory to keep from this adventure.
Afterward, before we went home, we swam in the river we had passed earlier. The water was icy cold, which made it the perfect reward after the long and tiring walk.
It was a moment of laughter and joy, and swimming together made us feel closer as a group.
Visiting Taluntunan Falls was truly an unforgettable adventure. It was free, fun, and refreshing, and it reminded me how wonderful God’s creation is.
